State Sport Climbing meet from August 17

JAMMU: Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Luxmipuram Bantalab, here, is organising the 17th J and K State Sport Climbing Championship from August 17.
“About 200 climbers from various districts of the state, including Jammu, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba, Anantnag, Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal besides Pulwama, Poonch, Rajouri and Doda shall vie for honors in this two days competition. In case the participation exceeds 200 climbers, preliminary rounds of certain categories for Jammu District shall be conducted a day earlier,” informed General Secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria.
The competitions shall be held in eight categories of men, women (born in 2000, 1999 and earlier), boys, girls (born in 2001, 2002 and 2003), sub Junior boys and girls (born in 2004 and 2005) and mini boys and girls (born in 2006 and after). Except for mini boys and girls, who shall participate in lead climbing only, participants in all other categories shall compete both in lead climbing and speed climbing. A national judge in sport climbing, Mitra Ghosh from Delhi shall be the president of the Jury, another technical official from Delhi, Paras Verma, a national Route Setter also from Delhi shall be the Chief Route Setter of the competition. Other technical and logistic support shall be provided by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi.
