State Legal Services Authority to reach to victims of firing on Border

JAMMU: Under the directions of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Acting Chief Justice of J and K High Court and (Patron-in-Chief) J and K State Legal Services Authority, Chairpersons of DLSA’s Jammu, Kathua and Samba have been directed to constitute Core Groups with regard to disaster victims of firing on Border in terms of Section 12(e) of the J and K SLSA Act, 1997.
The Groups will ensure immediate help of Government and non-Government Agencies to Victims, to co-ordinate with the different Departments of Government and NGOs for bringing immediate relief to victims, to supervise the distribution of relief materials to victims, to supervise the construction of temporary shelters for transporting the victims to safer places, to ensure availability of food, medicine and drinking water to disaster affected victims, to supervise the construction of damaged houses, to supervise the restoration of cattle and chattel, to conduct Legal Awareness Programmes in relief camps on the rights of victims, to organize village Legal Care and Support Centre in affected areas on temporary basis for assisting the victims, to assist the re-habilitation, care and future education of orphaned children, to assist in problems relating insurance policies, to arrange bank loans for restarting the lost business and avocations, to arrange Psychiatric help/counseling to the victims of firing who have been subjected to psychological shock and depression on account of border firing.
The Chairpersons of DLSA’s have been directed to submit the comprehensive compliance report with regard to the constitution of Core Groups and opening of Legal Care and Support Centre and measures taken for providing help to the victims of border firing.
