SRTC VRS employees to hold protest on Aug 22

JAMMU: SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association J and K criticized the callout attitude of State Government and higher authorities of Transport Department towards the VRS employees of J and K SRTC for not clearing their dues for the last more than six years. President VRS Union, Dev Raj Bali informed that during this long struggle 14 VRS employees had passed away as they could not afford proper treatment to their diseases for want of funds. “The Central Government has implemented the Seventh Pay Commission in favour of their employees whereas we are struggling for our Sixth Pay Commission implementation. Last year, the Central Government had sanctioned Rs.80,000 crore to the J and K State in which our share was also included but till date we have not been given our dues from this sanctioned amount,” he added. The association has unanimously decided to hold protest on 22nd August, 2016 against the State Government and State Transport Department in support of their demands. The association demanded Sixth Pay Commission arrears from 1st January 2006, Cost of Living Allowance arrears since 1999 and pension benefits. Among others who were present include Balwinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Prem Nath, J.D Singh, B.B Sharma, Gulshan Singh and Dwarka Nath.
