SRINAGAR: More than a half dozen activities under the sports carnival for rural areas were held in different blocks of various districts in Kashmir Division on Wednesday. The various blocks of South Kashmir, Central Kashmir and North Kashmir showed a huge response of players participating in various sports discipline competitions.
Talent identification is being done in the process for grooming budding sportspersons to achieve excellence at national and international levels.
The various blocks of South Kashmir’s Districts include Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian in which blocks, Bhijbehara, Kakapora, Khrew, Harmain and
other blocks participated in various sports disciplines.
Meanwhile in Central and North Kashmir Districts including, Budgam, Srinagar, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Bandipora, in which various blocks participated in different sports discipline competitions.These activities began at block level under Rural Sports Competition in every block of both the divisions of the State.
The sports disciplines in which competitions are going on in various blocks include athletics, kho kho, kabbadi, volleyball, wushu, athletics and others.
“Inclusion of budding sportspersons at grass root level will provide a platform to the budding sports talent to compete at any level,” said Secretary Sports Council.
Divisional Sports Officer, Nuzhat Ara and all other district sports in charges were closely watching the developments on ground zero.
“Khelo India competitions are being conducted not only to promote sports at grassroots level but also to help revive the sports culture in the State,” the officials informed.
