SPCB seizes 15 kg polythene bags

KATHUA: In an anti-polythene drive conducted by a joint team of State Pollution Control Board and Forest Protection Force, 15 kg of polythene carry bags was seized on Saturday from the shops in different markets of Kathua town. The shopkeepers were warned to desist from the use of the polythene carry bags as the manufacture, use and sale of the same has been banned under J and K Non-Biodegradable Act , 2007. The general public was also made aware about the damaging impact of use of polythene on environment, human health and animal life. The joint team was led by Deputy Director, Forest Protection Force, Vijay Kumar and Divisional Officer, SPCB Kathua Hansraj Galoch.
