Sonia, Rahul, socio-political organisations mourn demise of Mangat Ram Sharma

JAMMU: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has deeply condoled the demise of former Deputy Chief Minister and veteran leader Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma.
In her condolence message, Gandhi recalled the long association of the Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma with the party and his services to the people of the state in different capacities. She conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi, while expressing grief over the demise of Pt. Mangat Ram, and remembered his services to the Congress Party and people of the State, during his entire public life.
In a condolence message, Rahul Gandhi conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
AICC General Secretary Incharge J&K Affair Ambika Soni described him a messiah of poor and downtrodden who served the party and people in different capacities during his long political career.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at Congress Headquarters which was presided over by JKPCC Chief G.A Mir.

Chalotra, Ashok Dogra, Krishan Bhagat, Naresh Gupta- MLC, Subash Gupta, Ashok Gupta, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Maheshwar Singh, Krishan Lal Gupta, Ashok kumar Sharma, S. Amolak Singh, K.K. Pangotra, Balwinder Singh Sambyal, Pranav Shagotra, Anayat Ullah Rather, Shashi Sharma, S.S. Shingari, Vinod Mishra, Nadim Sharif Niaz , Subash Bhagat, Shri Neeraj Gupta, Shri Thomas Khokhar, Pawan Raina, Shamsher Singh Chib, Narinder Sharma, S. Manjeet Singh Jatt, Vinod Khajuria and Sanjeev Sharma were also present. A two minute silence was observed to pray for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Former Director, Information presently Advisor Gandhian Global Family J&K, Controller Civil Defence Jammu Narinder Singh expressed grief over the demise of Pt Mangat Ram Sharma. He described him as humble noble approachable social and seasoned politician who was very popular leader of Congress. He always held important portfolios during congress regimes and coalition govts in the state. Singh said he was a visionary and true statesman. He was among towering Congress leaders of the state like Pt Tarlochan Dutt and Girdhari Lal Dogra. The void due to his demise can hardly be filled in the field of politics. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
Senior Congress leader Gurmukh Sigh expressed deep shock over the demise of veteran Congress leader Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma. In his condolence message, Singh recalled his long association of around six decades with him and described him a stalwart of the party, who served the people of the State throughout his life. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil expressed grief and shock over the demise of Mangat Ram Sharma. Terming his demise as a big loss to the State and nation, Vakil said his contributions for the State and nation can never be relegated and are unforgettable.
