POONCH/AKHNOOR: Four passengers were killed and three others were seriously injured when a bus rolled down from the road in village Gunthrian, Poonch.
The bus (JK02J-5761) which was on its way from village Gunthrian to Poonch, rolled down from the road immediately after leaving bus stand of the village. The deceased were identified as Abdul Ghani (32) son of Abdullah resident of Smote Surankote and his son , Mohd Yousif (24) son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Chamber Kanari and Mohd Nazir son of Wazir Mohd resident of Shmaber Kanari Sabzian while the injured were identified as Zabir Hussain (22) son of Nazir Hussain resident of Noona Bandi, Shariefa Bi (28) wife of Abdul Ghani resident of Smote Surankote and Mumtaz Ahmed (18) son of Ab. Sumad resident of Chamber Kanari referred to GMC Jammu further detail awaited
All the victims were shifted to District Hospital Poonch and the four persons whose condition was critical, were evacuated to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu but one Mohd Nazir son of Wazir Mohd breathed his last enroute.
Bodies of all the four passengers were handed over to their families after postmortem.
The Poonch Police have registered the case for investigation.
In another mishap, a cop died in hit and run case in Akhnoor tehsil of Jammu.
ASI Joginder Lal, son of Mela Ram of Devipur who was posted as SO CID CI in sector Akhnoor late last night hit by unknown vehicle near on Akhnoor-Jourian road while he was on way to his home on motorcycle and a pillon rider, namely Tarsem Lal got injured.
Both were shifted to SDH Akhnoor from where ASI was referred to GMC Jammu and later to Narayana Hospital Katra but he succumbed. Police have registered a case and started the investigation. Meanwhile, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah have expressed deep grief over Poonch accident. Dr Abdullah and Omar Abdullah conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls and immediate recovery of injured.
Provincial President National Conference Jammu Devender Singh Rana and Provincial Youth National Conference President Jammu Ajaz Jan have also expressed grief over the deaths of four persons. They expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for peace to departed souls.
Meanwhile, an Audi q3 rammed into a canal outside BSF school Paloura in the wee hours of the day. A white color Audi was seen floating atop the canal waters here.
