Six bovines rescued, smugglers flee

KATHUA: Police on Saturday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing six bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
According to a report, during the intervening night of 17th -18th March 2017, a police party of Police Station Kathua headed by Inspector Sarabjeet Singh, laid down a Naka at Berian Pattan and intercepted one canter (JK02AA-7405) loaded with bovines which were on way from Punjab towards J and K via Ravi River.
The driver of the vehicle was signaled to stop at the Naka but he accelerated the vehicle and managed to break the Naka and fled away. Subsequently, another Naka was established at Hatli Morh and the vehicle was chased and after noticing the police party alleged accused persons involved in smuggling of bovines managed to escape from the spot taking the advantage of darkness leaving behind the vehicle.
During checking of the vehicle, police rescued six bovines which were being transported in above said vehicle illegally. A case vide FIR No. 85/2017 under section 188 RPC, 3/5 PC Act was registered at Police Station Kathua.
