Second incarnation of Maa Durga is called Brahmcharini, it comprises of two words, ‘Brham’ which means meditation while ‘Charni’ stands for implementation of character of meditation She is also called ‘Uma’. She has got Kamandal (Vessel) in her left hand while ‘Mala’ (string of beads) in the right. Worshipper of this Devi gets power to resist and fight under all odds. Mantra for goddess Brham Charini to be recited nine times is :-
“Om Hreeng Aing Bhagwati Brhamcharini Mam Sarvam Sarv Shatroon Vash Manay Thaa Thaa Swaha”
