SHO, Munshi caught red handed while accepting bribe

SRINAGAR: Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday caught Station House Officer and Munshi of Police Station Khag in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, while accepting bribe.
On the basis of a complaint, the ACB team headed by DySP Rameez Ahmad raided the police station Khag and caught SHO Gowhar Gul and Head Constable (Munshi) Nazir Ahmad Bhat red-handed while accepting the bribe.
FIR Vide No 21/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in ACB police station Srinagar and further investigations have been taken up.
ACB received a complaint that SHO and Munshi of Police Station Khag are demanding bribe from the complainant for settlement and disposing of complaint against him.
On the basis of the written complaint, FIR Vide No 21/20 under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at ACB Srinagar and a team was constituted to lay a trap.
Subsequently, a trap was laid in which the accused, namely Gowhar Gul, SHO Police Station Khag and Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Munshi of Police Station Khag were apprehended red handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant. Both have been subsequently arrested and produced before the Court for police remand. Further investigation of case is in progress.
