Several organisations condemn sacrilegious acts, seek action

JAMMU: Several political, social and religious organisations on Friday condemned two sacrilegious acts which have led to communal tension in the area.
Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) on Friday staged a protest against the failure of government in restraining the continuous sacrilegious acts being carried out in Jammu.
Terming the Aap Shambhu Mandir and Nanak Nagar Shiv Temple incidents as a conspiracy, JWAM President demanded that only way out to stop such incidents is imposition of Governor’s rule. Leading the protest, he said the administration is diverting the attention of the masses by claiming that the culprits behind these acts are lunatic and drug addicts.
He questioned that how come persons with insane mind are targeting only temples and not the other places of worship. Dimple demanded severe punishments for both the culprits involved in the sacrilegious acts to set an example.
Others who joined the protest include Sham Saroop Gupta, Madan Lal, Som Nath, Sanjay Nagraj, Raman Gupta, Babu, Rakesh, Vijay Khajuria, Ravi Mengi and Golu Singh.
J&K Sikh Societies amalgamate also condemned these incidents by some anti-social and disgruntled elements.
Chairman J&K Sikh Societies, Gurdeep Singh Sasan said it is a heinous crime with a deep rooted conspiracy to flare up communal disharmony in the State. He flayed the Coalition Government for its failure to stop such sacrilegious acts. Sasan urged upon government to sternly and decisively act against such criminals who are bent upon creating trouble and vitiate communal violence in the State thereby destroying social fabric. He urged the government to enact stern laws against such offences. He demanded probe by a sitting judge. Prominent heads of the societies spoke on the occasion include Col. Joginder Singh, Capt. P.P Singh, Davinder Singh, Surinder Singh (Advocate), Tara Singh, Jagpal Singh, Baldev Singh and Rajinder Singh.
President Nirbhao Nirvair Organization, Harjeet Singh also condemned the sacrilegious act which has taken place at Shiv Temple, Nanak Nagar and Aap Shambhu Mandir Roop Nagar.
Those who participated in the meeting were Jagdev Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Sarbjeet Singh, Gurdyal Singh, Kulbir Singh, Sandeep Singh and Rakesh Singh.
The Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) strongly condemned the sacrilegious acts at temples in Janipur and Nanak Nagar areas of Jammu.
IDPD asked government to institute an enquiry to probe the chain of events to unmask the anti-social misguided elements and their handlers who want to polarize the society and create communal divide so as to disturb peaceful coexistence and harmony in this region.
Dr. Arun Mitra, Dr. Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Dr. G.M Mallik, Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Dr. Nira Singh, Dr. Bhavneet Kaur, Dr. R.K Chrungoo, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Mehvish Khan, Dr. S.S Soodan (National President IDPD), former Director Health Services Dr. R.K Goel along with concerned citizen Th. Rashpal Singh and D.K Kohli appealed to the public to remain vigilant in future and not to get disturbed by these mischievous and criminal forces who are out to create unrest in the society.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and All J&K Sikh Intellectual Circle also condemned the incidents saying that it was a part of bigger conspiracy to flare up passions of masses. J.S Mangal, National Vice President SAD (A) while condemning the Nanak Nagar incident, urged that it would have been better if administration has conducted a medical examination of the culprit before slapping the PSA and lodging him in Jail.
Meanwhile, taking serious note of sacrilegious act committed by anti-social element inside Nanak Nagar Temple, District Gurudawara Parabandhak Committee (DGPC) held a meeting under the chairmanship of Satvinder Singh and condemned sacrilegious act committed by anti social elements to defame to the Sikh community. All the members of the committee widely condoled flayed the gruesome act and demanded stern action against all those who involved and also abetted in heinous crime in the Nanak Nagar temple.
Other who present in meeting were Ranjeet Singh, Nardeep Singh, Gurmeet Singh Josh, Jasvinder Singh, Surjeet Singh, Bhopinder Singh Tara, Hardeep Singh.
Various organisations including NGO’s also condemned sacrilegious act at Jammu Temples.
Senior Congress leader Ashwani Khajuria, Lok Vikas Dal (LVD) state president Vikram Singh Slathia Udhampur Development Council (UDC) Secretary Parvesh Parihar also condemned the sacrilegious act of Jammu widely.
Expressing anguish over two successive sacrilegious acts in Jammu city within a gap of 48 hours, Team Jammu cautioned that such incidents were part of the deep rooted conspiracy of some radical groups to create division among Jammuites.
“Jammu region is passing through a testing time and it is duty of every citizen to maintain tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood, for which the Jammu region is known for the centuries”, Chairman of the Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said while addressing a meeting of Team’s prominent volunteers to discuss prevailing situation in the Temple City.
Jamwal said that such acts should not be taken as stray incidents; such attacks are part of the dangerous game-plan of our enemy to shattered Jammu’s fabric of secularism and common harmony.
“Some forces are hell bent to create division among
different sections of the Jammu region”, he cautioned but appreciated people of Jammu for exhibiting example of secularism and brotherhood at crucial time.
Jamwal regretted that administration failed to act timely after desecration act at Aap Shambu Temple in Roop Nagar on Tuesday evening. Had the administration acted on time, situation would not have taken violent turn, he said and lambasted the administration for adopting lackluster approach after Roop Nagar sacrilege act.
