Seminar on RTI Act organised

SAMBA: In order to spread awareness among the officers, officials, trainees, SSP Principal PTTI Vijaypur, Ashok Sharma organised a seminar on Right to Information Act -2009 here on Saturday.
On the occasion, Senior Advocate J&K High Court, Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed was the Chief Guest.
While addressing the police officers and officials, Ashok Sharma said that the seminar has been organized with a view to impart awareness among officers/jawans about this important Act and cases pertaining to RTI are disposed off on merit.
He said that the Right to Information (RTI) Act was enacted in the J and K State in the year 2009 and it has become most popular today due to its quantum use by the RTI activists.
“Today the public is curious to know about the execution of works in various public sectors for which RTI Act has become a boon,” he said.
Sheikh Shakeel revealed that due to increase in the RTI applications, the efficiency in the execution of work/transparency in public sector has also increased. Moreover, Sheikh Shakeel stressed upon the participants that since the Act has been enacted by the government in the interest of public, RTI activists should not use it for their personal cause.
Among others who were present include Vijay Kumar SP Vice Principal PTTI Vijaypur, Surinder Kumar Sharma DySP Outdoor, Mukesh Kumar DySP Administration, Riaz Ahmed Senior Prosecuting Officer PTTI Vijaypur, Hemanshu Mahajan Prosecuting Officer, Rajesh Rana Reserve Inspector and Puran Chand CDI.
