JAMMU: Minerva Consultants and Coaching Centre, Gandhi Nagar in association with French Club Jammu organised a seminar on ‘Influence of French on the English Language and importance of English as an International Language’.
In addition, it also helped clarify the need of IELTS for work, study and immigration in English speaking countries.
Guest Faculty JU (French) and Founder of French Club Jammu, Arun Sharma explored the French influence on the English language, citing case studies and examples to illustrate the effects of French and English affixing of native and foreign words.
Ravinder Pal Singh and Ranjyot Singh Wazir, MINERVA, discussed the rise of English as an international language and importance of International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Singh said, “English is considered an international language because of its widespread official and international use. English is the major language of business, media technology, diplomacy, etc.”
Ranjyot Singh Wazir added that IELTS is a worldwide highly recognized official English exam and its aim is to evaluate the English level of the people that take it. This is one of the most accepted English exams by higher education institutions to certify English language proficiency, he added.
Lokesh, Guest Faculty (Spoken English and PD) Government Polytechnic College, Vikram Chowk, was also present.
