Satish’s 96 helps Simula make 248 runs

JAMMU: Super 96 runs knock off 90 deliveries from Satish Kumar on Tuesday guided Simula Cricket Club to a comfortable total of 248 runs in a rain halted match of the ongoing First State level Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, organised by Country Cricket Club in association with J and K State Sports Council at Gharota, near here.
When the play stopped, Simula were batting at 248 runs in 40 overs with two wickets remaining.
Earlier, Simula won the toss and decided to bat first. The side batted well with two batsmen completing their half centuries. While Satish missed his ton when he was run out negotiating a single at 96 (8×4, 2×6), Shashi Kumar made 50 runs. Hardeep Singh was other main scorer with unbeaten 33.
The opponent side of KC Sports Council tried eight batsmen in an attempt to stop batsmen from playing big innings. Most successful among these batsmen were Abhishant Bakshi and Toqueer, who bagged three and two wickets respectively. Now, the match shall be rescheduled on a later date and will resume from where it has been stopped, a handout issued by the organisers said.
