RTO Jammu carried out safety audit of school buses, stress for creation of road safety clubs in school

JAMMU: The Motor Vehicle Department, under the guidance of Rajinder Singh Tara, Transport Commissioner, KAS and Pankaj Bagotra, RTO KAS Jammu, on Tuesday carried out road safety audit of the school buses of JK Public School Kunjwani.
The safety audit comes after a circular has been issued by the RTO Jammu over the safety of school buses in the region, prompting the RTO to take proactive measures to address any potential risks.
A surprise check of the school buses was carried out by the team from RTO Jammu comprised of ARTO (Hq) Rehana Tabassam MVI Surinder Kumar, Jagandeep Singh, AMVI Amanish and MVTA Taranjot Ta wherein the team checked the wearing of seat belts by the drivers, first aid kit, emergency exists, fitness certificate, driving licence, overall maintenance and insurance of the buses, in compliance to the road safety rules.
Speaking on the occasion ARTO spoke in length about the signifance of creation if road safety clubs in the schools which will play proactive role in imparting awareness about road safety among other school children.
The team also conducted an awareness program on road safety rules wherein they stressed upon wearing of seat belts, head lights, no over-speeding and need for attendants in Toddlers’ buses. They said, keeping in view the alarming cases of accidents and accidental death, we must follow the road safety rules strictly. The programme was attended by almost 59 drivers and helpers of the school buses. Other schools were safety audit was conducted included KC International school, Jodhamal, Delhi Public School Jammu.
Director JK Educational Society, Shashi Chaudhary and School Principal, Rajesh Rathore apprised the transport authorities that every care is being taken for the safety and security of the kids at JK Public School. They assured full compliance of road safety rules in future also.
