RTO challans 102 vehicles, charges Rs. 1.58 lakh fine

JAMMU: A team of the RTO office Jammu on Saturday morning conducted intensive checking of vehicles on the National Highway between Samba-Jammu and Jammu city.
A large number of buses, mini buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles were checked for various offences under the Motor Vehicles Act and 78 vehicles were compounded and fine amounting to Rs. 1.58 lakh was realised on the spot.
Besides this 24 vehicles were challaned. Several mini buses were also challaned for wrong parking and not completing their routes. Buses on the highway were also challaned for using pressure horns and pressure horns were removed on the spot.
The team comprised of Arvind Kotwal, RTO Jammu, Kuldeep Singh, ARTO Jammu, C. S. Billowria, MVI, Vinod Chalotra, MVI, Sunil Cannie MVI and Surinder Kumar, MVI.
During the intensive checking the defaulters were also given awareness about the need to follow rules and regulations as provided under the Motor Vehicles Act.
