Rs 1 cr released for Besam Gali Jamianwali Gali-Loran Tangmarg road: Wani
SRINAGAR: Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani while replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Dr. Shehnaz Ganai in the Legislative Council informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for construction of Besam Gali Jamianwali Gali-Loran Tangmarg road has been signed with the Beacon (BRO).
The agency is now in the process of preparation of the DPR. He said the State Government as per the requisition made by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has released an amount of Rs. 1 crore during 2013-14 under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) for the said road while Rs. 4 crore has been earmarked for current year. It is also to mention that the road is likely to cost huge amount and it will not be possible for the State Government to provide for its entire funding out of its own kitty. The other sources of funding need to be explored for the road.
The minister said that the 62 km of Mandi Phagla Buffliaz road is approved under State sector projectization. He said the major bottleneck in completion of the road is non- payment of land/structure compensation which amounts to Rs. 9.69 crore. He said the Department has allocated and released an amount of Rs. 25 lakh for this purpose during the current financial year out of the meagre resources available to obviate the difficulties to some extent.
