POONCH : Ahead of the Republic Day celebration, the District Police held a road march in the extreme border district of Poonch on Monday.
The police march headed by SSP J.S Johar started from District Police Lines Poonch with a man power of over 500 cops fully equipped. It passed through Nakhanwali Road, Parade Ground, Main Market, Ala Pir, Air Field Road, Bus Stand and then culminated back in the Police Lines. Addl SP Amit Gupta, Dy SP Headquarter Deepak Dhingra, Dy SP DAR Khalid Amin, Dy SP Operations and SHO Poonch, Rakesh Akram were also present in the march.
The aim of this march was to build confidence among public, ensure fitness of cops, prepare for the Republic Day celebration in view of the infiltration threat in this border district.
Meanwhile in the wake of Republic Day celebration the police have increased the number of police Nakas in the district along with additional manpower in the existing Nakas.
