REASI: A day-long orientation course for Anganwadi workers was conducted by the District Social Welfare Officer-Rafiq Ahmad, who is also Nodal Officer ICDS Reasi. The main objective of this course was to sensitise the Aganwadi workers about effective implementation of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme.
Rafiq said that the department is laying greater emphasis and making, well deserved concrete efforts in the implementation of all existing government policies and programmes for the welfare and development of children which is an investment in itself, for their overall socio economic growth.
Rafiq briefed the participants about their role and responsibilities. He informed them about records and registers to be maintained at the Anganwadi Centres and added that, as almost the entire data pertaining to ICDS gets generated at the Anganwadis, a series of registers have to be maintained at the Anganwadi centres and these registers have to be updated regularly by the Anganwadi Worker(AWW) and the supervisor has to ensure that the data is being properly entered. The registers include Anganwadi Survey Register, Supplementary Nutrition and Pre-School Education Register, Immunisation Register, Services for Pregnant and Lactating Mothers Register, Mortality Register and Daily Diary.
Rafiq further added that it is the duty of the supervisor to ensure that all the registers are maintained properly and accurately. She should help the AWW in maintenance of the records. The information from the Anganwadi has to be sent to the CDPO/ACDPO once a month (Monthly Progress Report). Besides, an Annual Progress Report (APR) also has to be sent by the AWW.
