Rizwan holds awareness and outreach programme under ‘Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0’

JAMMU: Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) J&K and Ladakh conducted “Nidhi Apke Nikat 2.0” a participatory outreach programme at Dogra Law College, Jammu on Thursday in collaboration with PHD Chambers of Commerce.
Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Rizwan Uddin, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the session. He highlighted the key features of the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 and the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976. These two prominent social security schemes are being extended to workers in J&K and Ladakh from November, 2019.
PHDCCI also raised written questions, which were addressed to the satisfaction of audience. Pooja Dave, Arjun Singh, Rahil Raizada, Major Singh and other employers/employees asked various questions. Some of the students of Dogra Law College asked highly relevant questions on social security.
He informed that the nominee of an employee (having been a member of Provident Fund for at least one year of employment) whose death occurs while being in service is entitled to a minimum of Rs 2.5 Lakh of insurance. He further said, “Maximum insurance under the EDLI scheme is Rs. 7 Lakhs. EPFO is paying monthly pensions to the families of employees who met with accidents a few months ago. Wife and children of deceased employees are entitled to pension. The wife would get pension till her lifetime.”
A hand holding and interactive session continued for another hour in which various stakeholders went live and learnt how to deal with the problems faced by them with the help of Shri Bipin Kumar, EO/AO.
Earlier, Rahul Sahai, Chairman, PHD Chambers of Commerce addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of the EPF & MP Act and Schemes framed thereunder for employers and employees.
Samar Dev Singh Charak, Co Chairman, PHD Chambers of Commerce also addressed the programme. Dr. Avdhesh Partap, Principal, Dogra Law College, Jammu, appreciated the initiative by EPFO Jammu and Nidhi Aapke Nikat program which enables stakeholders to reach out to EPFO with their queries and grievances.
Dr. Darshana Sharma, Professor, Dogra Group of Colleges was also present during the program.
P F Commissioner advised all such establishments to enroll all eligible employees as members, otherwise appropriate action would be initiated against Principal Employers and concerned contractor under provisions of EPF and MP Act, 1952.
Apart from Jammu, Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0 program was also held at KRCL, Reasi by Jagpreet Singh Cheema, District Nodal Officer of EPFO in the presence of Ashok Sunadholi, AEN/HQ.
Another programme was organized at DIC Anantnag by Suhail Khan, EO/AO in the presence of Dilshada, General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Anantnag and the program was also held at Druk Auto Zone, Leh (Ladakh) by Pawan Kumar, EO/AO where representatives of establishments and employees were present in the program.
