Rigzin Spalbar inaugurates an irrigation pond at Taru village

The Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar today inaugurated an irrigation pond constructed by TISS at Taru village. The completed pond is one of the project in Taru village undertaken by TISS under the MoU already signed between LAHDC, Leh and TISS and financially supported by IDBI under Corporate Social Responsibility scheme.
After inaugurating the pond, CEC along with Councilor Basgo Tsering Norboo, Project Director, TISS Leh Sonam Jorgais, Sarpanch Taru and other members inspected other ongoing projects of TISS in Taru which include two bridges over Taru Nallah and one Common Facility Centre (CFC) building.
Later, addressing the people at Panchyat Ghar Taru, CEC expressed great happiness over the completed and ongoing works of TISS in Taru and congratulated people for owning a priceless asset (pond) which will benefit farmers of village immensely in years to come. He made an appeal to the people to use the pond with utmost care so that it will last for coming generation.
Appreciating the dedicated hard work of Director, TISS Leh Sonam Jorgais, Councilor Tsering Norboo and villagers of Taru for carrying out the works by maintaining the quality of projects at highest level with least expenditure, CEC said that Taru village will emerge as a role model for entire Ladakh adding that Councilors, Sarpanches and offices must visit Taru village so that they can also implement similar project at their village.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, area councilor Tsering Norboo and Sarpanch Taru Lobzang Thinles thanked CEC for choosing Taru village for TISS projects after the 2010 flash flood in which Taru was the one of the worst affected village with 70% of the agricultural land damaged.
Later, briefing about TISS projects in Taru village Director, TISS Leh Sonam Jorgais said that a total of Rs.1.25 crore will be expended on all the components of project which will be funded by IDBI and informed that a total of 14 irrigation Khuls, 2 link roads and one pond were already completed under this project and remaining projects including two bridges and one CFC building will be completed by the end of October, 2014.
