JAMMU: General lines teachers on Wednesday held a protest demanding for revocation of government order 469 of 25th June, 2014 which has been a cause of discontentment and demoralization among teaching community.
The members unanimously demanded the rollback of order issued by previous government to bring back faith of teaching community as their future is uncertain in the wake of said order.
Scores of general line teachers under the banner of General Line Teachers Forum (GLTF) Jammu assembled in front of Press Club Jammu and expressed displeasure how the different employee unions have been un concerned over the unjust and uncalled order by previous government passed in frustration to earn vote bank.
The President of the Forum, Neeraj Sharma said that above mentioned order is about to derail the whole education system and is insinuating the upcoming generation especially the educated youth to go for unethical means of employment rather than going for just and fair ways of facing competitions.
If ReTs engagement is to go this way then why the government is running the recruitment agencies like PSC, SSRBs etc, he questioned and said that these should be disbanded immediately and let the all recruitments may be done through local prominent persons of the village /locality working on behalf of local politicians.
The General Secretary of the Forum, Daleep Kumar Digra said that such move of corrupted previous National Conference and Congress Government for selfish motives was setting unhealthy precedence for other departments and youth aspiring for respectable profession like teaching will never opt for this job when the future promotion avenues are favoured for adhoc / temporary employees then the employees entering through SSRB and PSC stiff competition.
He further said that the teaching being the revered profession should be elevated and be managed by an educationist and dedicated person caring for human values, students, studies and society at large and not by power hungry person or one having lust for money.
The others speaker raised the issues like early adjustments of newly promoted teachers to masters, filling up of vacant post of teaching cadre in schools and removal of pay disparities of teachers with equivalent cadres in states.
