POONCH : Residents of village Loran, Tehsil Mandi held a protest against Election Department and blocked the Mandi – Loran Road for changing the name of their village as Tantraygam in the election cards.
The protesters raised slogans against the department alleging a deep conspiracy to create chaos in the area and demanded thorough probe in the matter. They said that the name of village is Loran and nobody on the earth can change this name.
Tehsildar Mandi Amir Rather and Dy SP Headquarter Poonch Deepak Dhingra reached the spot and after listening to their grievances, assured them that thorough inquiry in the matter shall be accomplished and if foul play is noticed, appropriate action will be taken against the erring. He also assured them that their Identity cards will be rectified soon.
On the assurance of visiting officers, the villagers lifted dharna and opened the road.
