Jammu wins team championship in Gymnastics
JAMMU: Hosts Jammu Frontier clinched the team championship trophy in Gymnastics to continue at the top in the points tally at the end of day-three of ongoing Inter Frontier Games of the Border Security Force (BSF), here on Wednesday.
To claim the team championship, Jammu Frontier secured 258 points. The second place shared by Rajasthan and Tripura with same 251.5 points. Punjab bagged the third position while Gujarat, South Bengal and Mizoram and Cachhar (M&C) had to contain with fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.
The all round best gymnasts title went to Constable Mohd Shahbaz Alam of Punjab Frontier with highest individual tally of 63.95 points.
Meanwhile, in wrestling, especially Greco Roman style, Jammu Frontier could not do well today. North Bengal and South Bengal wrestlers made their presence felt winning most of the medals in three weight categories decided today.
In weightlifting, wherein two weights decided today, M&C clinched both the gold medals. However, in 77 kg category, Constable Joginder Barman bagged silver for Jammu Frontier.
In the meantime, the competition in boxing has reached quarterfinals and semifinals stages.
