Rana vows to foil attempts of elements inimical to Nagrota’s development

NAGROTA: Vowing to foil the attempts of those inimical to progress of Nagrota, National Conference candidate Devender Singh Rana on Saturday said the people of the constituency have superimposed their preference for development over politics.
“Unmindful of the politics going around, the people of Nagrota have made a distinct and decisive choice for steering their constituency to a new era of development”, Rana said while addressing election meetings at Jandrah, Pounthal, Kathar Lower and Krishanpur.
He said enthusiasm among people for development has unnerved those who left them in lurch for years together and kept them feeding with just hollow and emotive slogans. He said his commitment to give new dimension development remains unflinching as the people have seen him delivering on ground rather than indulging in rhetoric. He said vision of developed Nagrota has become a holy mission for him and added that development cannot be undermined by raking up emotive issues as the people crave for sustainable peace, good governance, network of infrastructural development especially in the service sectors.
“On finding Nagrota getting major chunk of administrative units—one sub-division, three Tehsils, nine Niabats and three community development blocks, the opponents saw a writing on wall”, he said add these units will prove to be catalyst of progress in years to come.
Rana lauded the sagacity of people and their determination to seek redressal to community problems, saying this has made the role of their representative rather more challenging. He assured that he will try to meet their expectations with best of his capabilities. In this context, he enumerated the efforts made during the past seven years to give momentum to development especially in the sectors of rural development, power and water supply, education, health and sports besides ensuring basic services to the people. He said a network of roads has been laid during recent years and special thrust has been laid on upgrading the power and water supply. In the rural development sector, several initiatives have been taken for upgrading facilities. He said the people at grass roots level have been empowered to fix priorities for their areas, which has gone well in undertaking the most needed schemes in each Panchayat Halqa.
“Keeping in view the huge potential of the constituency, we are on our way to remodel Nagrota as Nava Jammu”, he said and spelled out the broad contours of the proposed satellite township which will envisage earmarking huge clusters for growth as residential colonies, commercial hubs and tourism destinations.
The Provincial President gave an overview of steps taken for the development of the area in his capacity as Member Legislative Council and said the support of people has been enormous in this effort.
