JAMMU: The issue of firing on a suspected civilian by a sentry deployed on the periphery wall of an army camp in Nagrota continued to rock the lower house of the State Assembly on Wednesday.
Soon after the House assembled, BJP and National Conference Legislators exchanged barbs on the floor.
From the opposition benches NC MLA from Nagrota, Devender Singh Rana raised the issue of firing by army in Nagrota on seeing a suspect, demanding probe into the incident.
He said that enquiry should be ordered into the firing and things should be made clear on identity of the suspect.
Reacting to the demand, BJP MLA and State President Sat Sharma said that the member is misleading the House and politicising the Nagrota issue.
Taking at dig at BJP MLA, Rana retorted back, “I am surprised that those who do not move out of Kanak Mandi area are speaking about the army.”
“I know much better than you Sharma, do not teach me,” Rana said.
However, the duo exchanged heated words, as other BJP members also supported their party chief. The slogans raised by NC MLA were not audible. However, Rana was heard accusing BJP Legislators of ignoring the plight of people of Jammu and also labelled them anti-nationals in response to the allegation levelled by BJP members against him.
