Raksha Bandhan celebrated at Bal Niketan, District Jail and Oldage Home Amphalla, Jammu on Monday.

JAMMU: Hundreds of inmates on Monday celebrated the festival of bond Raksha Bandhan with fervour at District Jail, Amphalla.
Member of Vichar Kranti Manch International (VKMI) celebrated the function with great fervour and spirit with jail inmates. l.D Soni, Chief Advisor VKMI and State Commissioner J and K Bharat Scouts and Guides, in his address blessed the inmates, police officers and people from civil society and representative of different NGOS and wished them all that this festival of peace, harmony and love may bring to them prosperity and healthy long life.
Rattan Lal Mahajan, a social activist and Ex President Warehouse and Nehru Market Federation presided over the function.
The police officers of the Jail Surinder Singh Superintendent, Naseer Ahmed Assistant Superintendent (Male) and Susheel Raina Assistant Superintendent (Females) extended valuable sport and active co-operation to make the celebrations a grand success.

S.K Jain, President VKMI in his address explained about the activities of the Manch and threw light on the importance of the festival. He encouraged and advised them that Raksha Bandhan is a festival of unity and brotherhood.
They must adopt the moral and social values and keep peaceful atmosphere in the Jail. Meanwhile, Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu with great joy and enthusiasm. The event was held under the guidance of DG Prisons, S.K Mishra.
A colourful cultural programme was organised inside the jail premises.
Sudarshan Behan, Chief of Brahma Kumaris, J&K spoke on importance of the day.
Medical Officer, Assistant Commandant, CRPF and huge gathering of jail staff besides Ravinder Bhai, Surinder Bhai, Kuldeep Bhai and Kusam Lata Behan and Shaweta Behan were also present.
Brahma Kumaris tied traditional Rakhis on the wrists of jail inmates. Sweets were also distributed among the staff members and jail inmates.
Inmates appreciated the efforts of Prisons Department for organising such cultural programme and thanked SSP Jail, Dinesh Sharma for his initiative in conducting this event.
