JAMMU: Prof. Rahul Gupta from the Department of Statistics, University of Jammu (JU) was on Monday appointed as Registrar University of Jammu. The order reads “Prof. Rahul Gupta Department of Statistics shall function as Registrar University of Jammu from July 25, 2023 till further orders, in addition to his existing duties, reliving Prof. Prof. Arvind Jasrotia of the additional charge of the Registrar on his request.”
Prof. Rahul Gupta, M.Sc Statistics (Gold Medallist,1990), Ph.D Statistics (1995), JU, is Professor of Statistics since August 1, 2011.
He has been Ex Director, UGC-Human Research Development Centre, JU, Rector, Bhaderwah Campus, JU, and having 30 years teaching and research experience in Higher Education. Prof. Gupta started career as Lecturer in JK Government Higher Education in 1992 and has served at JU in different capacities like Dean, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, JU, former Head, PG Department of Statistics, JU, former Chief Librarian, Dhanvantri Central Library, JU.
He also organised 15 Faculty Improvement Programmes (General Orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses, Interdisciplinary RCs, workshops on Research Methodology, MOOC and E Content for Faculty/Scholars of Higher Education Institutes) of UGC/Under RUSA in the year 2019-20.
He also organised 12 benchmark lectures of Internationally Recognised Scholars/Scientists under Benchmark series aimed at Capacity Building of JU under RUSA Phase 2.0 in 2018-20. Besides this, Prof. Rahul organised 14 Faculty Improvement Programmes (General Orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses, Interdisciplinary RC’s, Workshops on Research Methodology, MOOC and E Content for Faculty/Scholars of Higher Education Institutes) of UGC/Under RUSA in the year 2020-21 Prof Rahul attended about 40 International/National Conferences in India and six in Foreign Countries for delivering Invited Talks/Paper Presentation/Session Chair , UGC Member of DRS-SAP Advisory committee for University of Kolhapur, Maharashtra and University of Kolkatta, West Bengal. He has remained member of University Council, University Syndicate, University Academic Council, Board of Research Studies, Board of Studies and various committees of the University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut, and Kurukshetra University, Member Advisory Committee of JK Board of Professional Entrance Examination and UGC-HRDC, University of Kashmir.
