JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir POJK DPs Front urged upon Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh to constitute enquiry against the lapse of Rs 80 lakhs sanctioned by the Government of India for computerization of documents of 1947 Displaced Persons (Camp and Non-Camp).
Led by Front President, Rachhpal Singh Chib, the refugees assembled at Exhibition Ground and raised slogans against the government for not showing its serious concern towards their hardships.
Chib said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sanctioned economic package of Rs 2000 crore on 7th November 2015 for disbursement among the PoJK DPs of 1947, 1965, 1971. The state government has published notification on 20th March from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu which consists of list of documents to be submitted along with application form for all categories of displaced persons. The scheme prepared by the Additional Commissioner Jammu envisages that additional staff should be deputed by the government to verify the documents of the displaced persons. But no additional staff has been deputed with the designated authorities even after passage of four months.
The documents are under the custody of Provincial Rehabilitation Officer (PRO), Jammu. These documents of the DPs are un-complete. About one-tenth of these documents are missing (eaten up by the insects) and rests are solid.
Chib appealed to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to hold enquiry against the erring officials for not utilizing the amount Rs 80 lakhs sanctioned by the Central Government for computerization of documents of 1947 Displaced Persons.
