Prioritize investigation of domestic violence cases against women: SSP

JAMMU: SSP Jammu, Dr. Sunil Gupta on Saturday stressed on prioritizing the investigation of domestic violence cases against women.
He was addressing a crime review meeting of Police Station Women Cell, Gandhi Nagar Jammu. SP City South Shehzad Ahmed Salaria, SHO Police Station Women Cell, Gandhi Nagar and Investigating Officers of this unit were present in the meeting. At the outset, SSP examined the performance of Police Station Women Cell, Gandhi Nagar.
SSP Jammu took the strict review for early finalization of these cases to give the relief to the general public. During meeting it came to surface at about 40 per cent cases registered in Women Cell have been stayed by the court for proceeding the further investigations. In most of the cases registered at Police Station Women Cell, Gandhi Nagar, the second party has sought court’s intervention for stay order on police process to prove that the claims made by the first party are not genuine. SSP Jammu personally checked the case files and directed Investigation Officers to improve the quality of investigation and speedy disposal of cases assigned to them for conducting the investigation. At last, the investigating staff was directed to conduct the investigation of cases with zeal, dedication and with transparency at an earliest possible time in the public interest and bring the pendency to the minimum. On the same day, SSP Jammu also conducted the physical inspection of Police Station and its records. Necessary directions were given to the officers present during inspection for maintenance of police station and its record.
