After promoting leisure tourism in Mumbai and other cities of the country, the PDP-BJP Government is introducing new destinations and ventures for sports and adventure tourism. The Chief Minister has pitched for ‘health tourism’ in Pahalgam and Gulmarg, notwithstanding the fact that inflow of normal tourists has significantly slashed down due to fast deteriorating law and order situation across the Valley. The unrest has spread to Jammu as well with a section of society up in arms against the government.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for the coalition government to talk of tourism in air when the ground situation is fast going out of control with secessionist elements posing new threat to national interest?
