Press Club Jammu-XI beats JKP-XI in thrilling exhibition matc

JAMMU: Press Club Jammu XI defeated JKP XI in T-20 match which was played at MA Stadium on Monday evening.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh, who was Chief Guest in the match, also played from the site JKP-XI to encourage players of both teams.
Addressing the ceremony before the start of the match, ADGP Mukesh Singh congratulated the players of both the teams.
He said, “The sports is such a medium which gives power to keep away from drugs. If drug addiction is to be defeated then sports are necessary as it keeps a person fit both mentally and physically.”
Zorawar Singh also motivated the youth to stay away from drugs and participate in sports.
He said that as much as possible the Press Club will provide a better platform to the youth so that they can participate in more and more sports and the Press Club will soon organize a better sports event.
Later when the match started, JKP XI captain ADGP Mukesh Singh decided to bat first. Batting first, the JKP-XI lost their first wicket in the form of ADGP Mukesh Singh.
He was dismissed early in front of Press Club captain Naveen Kaul’s out swing bowling, but Rajesh Gill handled the innings from the other end and gave Press Club a target of 122 runs in 20 overs. Rajesh Gill played a half-century innings of 54 runs from the team. The ADGP Mukesh Singh scored 10, Akshay Khajuria scored 17, Garu Ram scored 15 and Atul Sharma scored 12 runs. Rahul Khatri and Naveen Kaul both took two wickets each from Press Club XI. While Rupesh Raj got one wicket.
On the other hand, Press Club XI got off to a good start to chase the target. Openers Rupesh Raj and Anil Langeh shared a partnership of more than 50 runs, in which Anil Langeh got out after scoring 28 runs. Captain Naveen Kaul, who landed in the middle order, handled the innings with Rupesh Raj and the partnership between the two was close to 55 runs and the team was only 12 runs away from victory and Captain Naveen Kaul lost his wicket for 22 runs, but Rupesh Raj leading the winning team with an unbeaten inning of 52 runs and in the end Tejas Jamwal captured the match by hitting a long six.
Sundar Pal and Vikram Dogra were the umpires in the match while Madan Mohan acted as the scorer. Rupesh Raj declared man of the match.
Senior journalist Mannu Srivastava, Press Club General Secretary Dinesh Manhotra, Vice President Zorawar Singh, Secretary finance Channi Anand, Deepak Khajuria and other dignitaries were present.
