Dear Editor,
I would like to highlight the issue of rise in prices of essential commodities. The present State Collation Government headed by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti gave slogan of healing touch policy and made no mistake in implement healing touch policy for anti social elements and same government gave shocking touch to the poor people of the State by taking wrong decision to raise the prices of essential commodities such as rice and Atta (floor). This decision directly affects the poor people of the State. The present government forget the policy of price ceiling this policy is adopted to protect the poor people from rising prices.
The present government exploited the poverty of the poor people knowing itself that neither poor people can make hue nor cry because they are confined within the vicious circle of poverty. No doubt the poor people are poor but they have shown a big heart in electing this present government and same government gave reward to them by raising prices of essential commodities such as rice and Atta (floor) and push them further back to the vicious circle of poverty.
The government raised the price of such essential commodities by which poor people have no substitute for it nor can they postpone it. They can purchase it at the higher price. Buying at the higher price not only the budget of the poor people gets disturbed but they also get mentally upset.
The government has various ways to generate income. Can government apply mind timely to raise the price of comforts and luxuries for which poor people have no demand?
On one hand government is in mood to implement the Seventh Pay Commission to make happy one small section of the society on the other hand same government increases worry one of the largest section of the society by raising the prices of essential commodities. On what grounds the present government raised the price of essential commodities when Food Corporation of India is providing food grain to Jammu and Kashmir Government at the old rates.
This government should take lesson from former Chief Minister of the Tamil Nadu late Jailalithaa who was dedicated and devoted towards poor people of the Tamil Nadu state.
She provided all the basic necessary facilities to the poor people of the state at affordable price.
