POSTERS MOCKING FATHER OF NATION: Minister stands taller than Mahatma on Gandhi Jayanti

JAMMU: For the past two weeks king-size hoardings of Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat, erected at vantage locations in and around Super Speciality Hospital here and adjoining areas, are attracting attention of passersby.
The message, which is displayed on these posters is about ongoing drive to popularise the theme of ‘SWACHTA HI SEWA’ under the flagship programme of Swach Bharat Abhiyan during the fortnight between September 15- October 2.
Along with the ‘smiling’ pictures of Health Minister a cartoon of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi is also displayed on these posters where he is seen cleaning the floor on his own. Shockingly, the image of Father of Nation is placed at the bottom, and that too in left corner of the hoarding below ‘smiling’ pix of the minister.
Now the question arises if the purpose of the displaying these posters is to create awareness among masses then why only image of the Mahatma cleaning the floors is used and not that of the minister as well.
Is it a fact that instructions were passed on to the designers against using image of Health Minister holding ‘broom’ in his hand and it is for the same reason the image of Health Minister participating in Swach Bharat Abhiyaan was not used on the posters.
In contrast Prime Minister Narendra Modi has his image holding a broom pasted on the posters and advertisement/campaign material to popularise the drive in order to achieve better results. But it appears Health Minister in Jammu and Kashmir is not keen on even following the foot prints of his own leader and the Prime Minister to highlight his image in the eyes of the electorate.
