Poonch administration finalises I-Day arrangements

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmad Zargar on Friday chaired a meeting of senior officers to review and finalised the arrangements for the smooth conduct of Independence Day celebration in this border district.
It was decided that the main function will be held at Sports Stadium Poonch where the Chief Guest will unfurl the National Flag and take salute from the march past comprising contingents of J and K Police, JKAP, BSF, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC cadets, Home Guards and school children.
ADDC Abdul Hamid, ADC Gurvinderjeet Singh, ASP Masroor Ahmad Mir, ACR Ashraf Chowdhary, Executive engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD CMO, District Youth Sports Officer, Executive Officer Municipality, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), ARTO, Officers from 93 Infantry Brigade, besides all concerned district officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that celebrations will began with playing of Shahnai Wadan by the Information Department.
The meeting was informed that the Independence Day functions would be held at Sub Divisional level, Tehsil level and Niabat level to celebrate the national function.
The DC directed the officers not to leave the stations and remain present at the national function. Reviewing the security arrangements, the DC asked for tight adequate deployment of personnel in and around sports stadium and at all other venues across the district. The Traffic Department was directed to indentify space for parking of vehicles near the venues.
Regarding cultural programs, the DC asked the Chief Education Officer to coordinate with the schools for presenting a scintillating show on the day. The meeting also finalised the seating arrangements, refreshment for school children, illumination of historical buildings, barricading, availability of drinking water facility, transport arrangements and.
The Deputy Commissioner directed PDD and PHE to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply at all the venues. He also directed Health department to organise medical camps at all the venues with adequate staff, ambulance and medicines.
