SOPORE: Police Martyrs Sports Festival organised by District Police Sopore concluded at Khushal Sports Stadium, here on Sunday.
The sports festival which commenced on October 22, 2020 concluded was orginised in order to boost the sports activities and to inculcate the sports spirit among the youth of Sopore area.
ADC Sopore Sajad Parvaiz, SSP Sopore Javaid Iqbal, CO 177 CRPF, CO 179 CRPF, 2 IC 22 RR, DySp DAR and other civil and police officers were present on the concluding function. A total of 100 cricket teams, 32 football teams and 32 volleyball teams from Police District Sopore participated in the Sports Festival. The final of cricket was played between Seer Sports Sopore and Cricket Institute Sopore which was won by Seer Sports Sopore by 52 runs at MET Ground, Sopore.
Volleyball final was played between DPL Sopore and Zaingeer Seniors which was won by Zaingeer Seniors by 3-2 and Football final was played between FC Gund Kareem Khan and FC Tulibal which was won by FC Tulibal by 1-0 at Khushal Sports Stadium Sopore. Later, Officers distributed cash prizes/trophies to the winner and runner up teams.
After the culmination of the presentation ceremony, SSP Sopore while interacting with the participants expressed immense happiness with the sports activities being conducted in the Police District from time to time. He further assured that such events shall be organised in future and Police will make all the efforts in encouraging the sports talent in PD Sopore.
