POJK Visthapit Sewa Samiti takes out Samriti Yatra to pay tribute to martyrs of 1947 massacre

JAMMU: The POJK Visthapit Sewa Samiti was thrilled to announce the Samriti Yatra, a profoundly significant journey that paid heartfelt tribute to the brave martyrs of the tragic 1947 massacre, an unforgettable chapter in our nation’s history.
A memorial procession was organized from Gurudwara Digiana Ashram and was flagged off by Mahant Manjeet Singh.
Upon embarking from Gurudwara Ashram Digiana, then subsequently passing through Satwari, Vikram Chowk via Gumat, Indira Chowk, Brigadier Rajinder Singh Chowk, Bakshi Nagar, Rehari Colony, Sarwal New Plot and ended at Ved Mandir Ambphala.
Along the way, participants paid their respects at the Balidan Stambh in Maheshpura, honouring the courageous souls that lost their lives in the Mirpur massacre.
They were welcomed by Arun Kumar Gupta (President, Arya Samaj Dayanand Marg) and Rajiv Chuni (Chairman, S.O.S International).
This Yatra united everyone in deep reverence, forging a strong sense of community.
This Yatra wasn’t just a physical journey; it was a profound tribute to the unwavering bravery of those who sacrificed their lives for our motherland. It provided an opportunity for all of us to reflect on and honor the unparalleled valor of these heroes, planting the seeds of a brighter future. We extend our deepest gratitude to the PoJK displaced families who participated in substantial numbers.
Their dedication and sacrifice continued to inspire us, reminding us of our duty to keep their memory alive. The Yatra showcased unity, resilience, and collective strength within our community, a testament to the commitment to preserving the legacy of those who devoted their lives to the nation.
Tributes were also offered to Maharaja Hari Singh at his statue at Tawi Bridge by Advocate Sunil Sethi, Dr Deepak Kapoor president POJK Visthapit Sewa Samiti and Arun Chowdhary for the Accession Day which acted as reminder for all PoJK displaced families who were invited to join this endeavour that the process is yet to be completed.
Arun Chowdhary, General Secretary of the POJK Visthapit Sewa Samiti and Convenor of Samriti Yatra emphasized the fact that the genocide of unarmed citizens from these communities of Mirpuri, Muzzafrabadi, Poonch, Bimbar etc. was the first ever deadliest since Independence and people should pay homage to the martyrs while remembering such dire atrocities.
He pledged that until the illegally occupied area by Pakistan isn’t regained and all the affected families aren’t rehabilitated, such events would continue.
He also said that accession is incomplete till the areas under illegal occupation of Pakistan and china are not taken back.
