JAMMU: PoJK DPs’ Front held protest here today to project their demands. Amid slogans and carrying banners, large number of PoJK DPs assembled at Exhibition Ground and demanded redressal of their long pending demands.
Capt Yudhvir Singh Chib, President of the Front, demanded that DPs of 1947, 1965 and 1971 (non-camp) should be given ownership rights for landed properly, issuance of Actual Line of Control (ALC) certificate to the displaced families of 1947, 1965, who are staying in the vicinity of border areas in Jammu, Hiranagar, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch Districts, 15 per cent reservation for the wards of DPs in colleges, universities, professional colleges, technical colleges, iits, etc on the pattern of Kashmiri Pandits in Central States.
Chib also demanded backward status for all DPs, stipend on the analogy of KPs to landless and house Less families of DPs of 1947, 1965 and 1971 (non-camp) and allotment of 10 Marlas land, allotment of land at alternate places to those whose land have come under border fencing, mines field and in the construction of ditches, ex-gratia relief should be paid to DC Jammu for distribution among displaced families of DPs of 1971 (non-camp), a board for development of displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971 (non-camp) DPs should be framed by the Government, rent of the DPs residing in custodian Department should be exempted and 24 seats of Assembly should be given to DPs of PoK.
Among others present were Shri Jai Pal Sharma, R.S Chib, Sakandya Devi, Kulbir Singh Chib, Kuldeep Singh, Ch Sukhjinder Singh, S Hari Singh, Pawan, RasaI Singh, Capt Sudesh Singh Chib, R.K Verma, Thoru Singh Chib, Babloo, Kehar Singh, Bittu, Krishan Singh, Maan Singh, Mohan Singh, Ch Tara Singh and Ravi Angral.
