PHE restores 123 water supply schemes

BARAMULLA: An officers meeting was held under the chairmanship of Special Commissioner (Relief and Rehabilitation) for north Kashmir M.S Rather at Dak Bungalow Baramulla on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Farooq Ahamad Lone, Superintending Engineers of Power Development Department, and Hydraulic, R&B, concerned Sub-Division Magistrates, Tehsildars and district officers.
During the meeting, various problems arisen due to recent floods, losses besides relief distribution and the steps taken up by the district administration to combat the situation were discussed threadbare.
Giving details through Power-point presentation, the District Development Commissioner said that a relief component of Rs.59 lakh has been distributed in the district so far. He said that 143 Government Buildings of Health, Education and Fisheries Departments have been damaged while as 50% loss in Agriculture sector which include Paddy, Maize, Pulses, Vegetables and fodder besides, above 50 per cent loss in Horticulture Sector which include both fresh and Dry fruit has been reported across the district. The DDC said that 95 per cent of Power supply has been restored temporarily while as 123 Water Supply Schemes have been restored in Uri, Baramulla and Tangmarg areas.
Referring to the temporary restoration of health institutions, education institutions and Fisheries sector, the DDC informed that about Rs.319.50 lakh are required.
The Relief Commissioner enjoined about upon the officers to work in close coordination with each other and speed up their efforts so that the affected people are provided the relief accordingly. He also directed the officers to ensure attendance of their subordinates and address people’s problems on priority basis.
