JAMMU: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of JU retained the annual inter-college men’s wrestling (free style) trophy in the inter-college competitions, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, at the Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here on Tuesday.
To make it a consecutive title win, JU team earned highest 17 points out of two gold, one silver and four bronze medals.
The title trophy was presented to PG team by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof J.S Jasrotia.
The bouts were officiated by the technical panel including Mulkh Raj, Sahil Sharma, Bansi Lal, Dheeraj Sharma, Jai Bharat and Vinay Manhas.

LAWN TENNIS: Meanwhile, in the inter-college lawn tennis competition, Government SPMR College of Commerce shall take on Government Degree College Kathua in the final slated for tomorrow on the campus courts, here.
Earlier, in the semifinals, played on Tuesday, SPMR College of Commerce beat GGM Science College 2-0. The Results: Nipun beat Chetan 6 – 1. Doubles: Vinay and Mayank defeated Chetan and Rabjeet.
In other semifinal, GDC Kathua trounced PG Departments 2-0. The Results: Rohit Verma beat Ankit Sharma 6-4. Doubles: Rohit and Rishab trounced Ankit and Abishek 6-4.
The semifinals were officiated by the technical panel including Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma and Deepak Singh.
HOCKEY: In the meantime, semifinals position has been cleared in the inter-college men’s hockey tournament underway at the campus grounds.
The teams reaching the last four stages are GDC Kathua, GDC Paloura and SPMR College of Commerce. Matches were officiated by the technical panel including Joginder Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Mukesh Kumar and Matinderpal Singh.
QUARTERFINALS: Commerce College beat Science College 2-0 (Pushpinder Singh-9th and Amarpreet-39th were the scorers). GDC Kathua defeated MAM College 3-2 via tie-breaker. GDC Paloura blanked PG Departments 3-0 (Gurpreet Singh -5th, 13th and 43rd)
Pre-quarterfinal: GDC Kathua beat GDC Poonch via penalty strokes 4-2. GDC Paloura outplayed MBS College 1- 0.
