MENDHAR : The relatives of victims and other residents of village Uchhad, Mendhar held a protest and blocked the Mendhar – Poonch Road in protest against Mendhar Police for their failure to arrest the accused persons.
According to report a family consisting of father and two sons was attacked by some unknown persons and after sprinkling kerosene oil, were put on fire during night in village Uchhad. All the three members suffered serious burn injuries and were shifted to Sub District Hospital Mendhar and later evacuated to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu.
One of the injured identified as Nazakat Hussain (30) son of Mohd Basir succumbed to injuries on Wednesday. The agitated villagers and relatives of the deceased held a protest and blocked the road. The protesters raised slogans against the Mendhar Police. Meanwhile the SDPO Shahid Naeem and SHO Mendhar Anjeer Mir reached the spot and pacified the protesters. They assured that the accused persons will be arrested soon and stern action will be taken against them. On their assurance the protesters lifted Dharna and the road was thrown open.
