MENDHAR: A large number of people held a protest in front of the office of BDO Mendhar against MLA Mendhar, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch and BDO Mendhar against the delimitation of Wards in the Panchayats. The protesters under the leadership of Imran Khan and Adv Tanveer Qureshi also blocked the Mendhar – Jammu National Highway for three hours and raised slogans against Administration and the BDO.
The protesters took strong notice of disturbing the existing wards in the panchayats for the vested interests and creating trouble for the inhabitants and demanded immediate rolling back of the delimitation of Panchayats.
They also warned the authorities that if they fail to take back the decision which is totally against the wishes and convenience of the general public, they will launch violent protests against such move.
The Tehsildar Mendhar Shehzad Khan and SHO Daleep Singh alongwith police team reached the spot where the protesters had blocked the NH. They heard the problems of the protesters and assured them that their concern will be communicated to the higher ups for redressal. On their assurances the protesters lifted Dharna and the road was thrown open for traffic.
