JAMMU: Expressing his grave concern over prevailing situation in the State, PDP leader, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said nothing less than ‘Peace’ should be the only alternative to violence, pellet or PAVA guns. “We have had enough of violence that has resulted in large scale deaths and destruction in the State. Now fire must be ceased and ways to involve people in restoring peace found out immediately for overall growth of State,” he asserted.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is concerned, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is leaving no stone unturned to restore peace, people and especially children are looking forward to attend to their schools, patients are awaiting treatments and students intend to appear in competitive examinations. Keeping in view these concerns each and every person must contribute in restoring peace in the State.
Choudhary Hamid said all concerned must look for alternatives to bullets, pellets or even ‘PAVA shells’, a chilli-based less-lethal ammunition which will temporarily incapacitate youth and render several of them immobile for several minutes is also a crude method of dealing with situation. Nothing short of peace should be prime concern of State as well as Central Government in days to come. We don’t need alternatives to beat or suppress people but we need to bring life back on rails in days to come.
Now that on the persuasion of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Central Government has decided to engage people of Kashmir for peaceful solution to their problems efforts must become visible on ground and fire ceased at all costs. Whatever measures the government has decided must immediately be implemented and faith of people restored in democracy. Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed always wanted to resolve issues through meaningful dialogues and same doctrine must be put in use by all means and without any further delay.
Meantime, Choudhary Hamid came down heavily on those who are rendering their ill advise to Centre as well as State Government and asked both these power centres to assess situation on ground for themselves and not fall a prey to those who are hell bent upon using people of Kashmir as tools in their laboratories. “We are dealing with humans and a solution to this issue must lie in humanity and a dialogue with anyone who intends to help restore peace and not in violence”, he added.
