MENDHAR: State General Secretary of Youth Wing of Peoples Democratic Party, Nadeem Ahmed Khan alleged that there is great discrimination in clearance of pending works of PWD and R&B which are still waiting for funds for completion of their works in Mendhar Constituency.
Nadeem said that the connecting road of most of the villages like Suran-Mendhar, Behra Salwaha under PWD and R and B Poonch is in worst condition. He said that this road which is 25 km in length and most busy road connecting the villages and National Highway Jammu Poonch are in urgent need of repairs and black topping where an amount of Rs 1.5crore is required adding that the project report of this road under PMGSY was also sent to Centre for upgradation but not approved yet, which is a setback to the population of border region of Mendhar Tehsil.
Khan said that the links roads connecting villages like Harni Nar where small culverts and bridges have not been constructed even when there is availability of funds. Similar is the case of Harni BG Bridge, where pillars of bridge were constructed four years ago by the contractor but still it is waiting for completion. On completion this bridge will connect the population of more than 20,000 of Panchayats Gulutha, Kandi Keri, Naka Manjari and lessen the distance to highway of Jammu touching Bimbher Gali.Many times a protest was lodged by the public and Sumo Union Association of the area to awaken the Coalition Government but government never paid attention to the grievance of general public. Today again protest led by Kafeel Khan, Alyas Sudan, Waseem Khan and others was launched for early start of the work and completion within month and protesters also jammed traffic of Suran Mendhar Road for an hour and said if work is not completed by the orders be issued for cancellation of tender.
Similarly on the roads under PMGSY, the earth work of most of the roads is completed but the balance work of blacktopping, construction of small culverts and bridges need attention of Government of India for providing funds and directions to the concerned authorities of PMGSY. Nadeem urged the Government of India to immediately intervene in these important works of Mendhar Tehsil of district Poonch.
