RAJOURI: Castigating the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for adopting foul-play during the Assembly elections in Rajouri Constituency against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Member Parliament (MP) Ch. Talib Hussain blamed the PDP for creating fear-psychosis among the Muslim community by circulating a ‘Fatwa’ (edict) in Rajouri.
The Fatwa was brought from Jamia Nayeemia Muradabad, Uttar Pradesh (UP) by a close relative of PDP candidate, Talib said and added that the Fatwa stated, “Whosoever will vote for BJP would do a big crime and he/she would be the ‘enemy of Islam’.
Former Works Minister also blamed the district administration which according to him has failed to tackle the situation. Former MLA and BJP candidate added that the Government machinery failed to stop the open violation of ‘Model Code of Conduct’ as speeches were made in Madrassas and mosques over the ‘Fatwa’ for three consecutive Fridays before the polling to create confusion and fear among the Muslim community.
“Molvi Shamsi delivered many speeches openly in Rajouri pouring venom against BJP by projecting it as ‘most communal’ party and voting in favour of BJP will go against the religion of Islam”, Talib informed and stressed that no stone was left unturned by PDP leaders and workers to communalise the scenario and they also circulated the copies of Fatwa among public on the day of voting outside the polling stations under the noose of district administration.
He also cited one example of Thannamandi tehsil were a government employee Abdul Rashid Qadari, Lecturer in Arabic Department of Thannamandi Degree College, who is also very close relative of PDP candidate, made provocative statements against BJP but nobody from the administration took notice of the matter.
He appealed to the Governor N.N Vohra, Election Commission of India (ECI) and Central Government to take complete cognizance of the matter and initiate proper action under law.
