PDP-BJP Govt failed on all fronts: Sham
STATE TIMES NEWS
AKHNOOR: Congress Senior Vice President and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma said that PDP-BJP Government has again turned out to be a complete failure on all fronts.
Addressing a monthly meeting of Congress Committee of Chowki Choura Zone, he alleged that most parts of Akhnoor are reeling under acute water scarcity but the government has not yet taken necessary steps. “Deprivation of ration supply is another issue affecting the population gravely,” he added.
“Chowki Choura area in Akhnoor Constituency is Kandi belt and for agricultural purposes it is dependent on rains. Due to scanty rainfall, people are facing drought like situation and their sufferings have increased manifold,” he said and demanded free ration for affected population besides feed and fodder for the animals.
Expressing concern, Sham demanded resumption of work on development projects viz Chowki Choura to Queer Road and flood protection project for which previous Central Government had sanctioned an amount of Rs 14 crore, Chak Dam, Lift Irrigation, etc. He said that it is astonishing that work on these projects have either been not undertaken or the progress of some of them have become stand still.
Lambasting BJP-PDP Government, Sham said that the shortage of ration in Jammu region speaks about the insensitivity and callousness of the authorities.
Sham also said that there is no supply of ration for the last seven months and nowadays the PDS depots are facing acute shortage of rice and flour.
Sham said that the BJP has completely surrendered before the PDP and are lacking courage to put forth the genuine problems of people of Jammu. “The party functionaries are more interested in remaining in Government and therefore giving last priority to the problems of the Jammu region”, he added.
