UDHAMPUR: A need based daily wager of Power Development Department (PDD) identified as Sudershan Kumar (28) son of Shiv Ram resident of village Mand East received shock while during performing his duties and fell down from electric pole.
He was immediately shifted to Primary Health Centre Tikri where doctors declare brought dead.
Irked over it, local people staged protest against PDD and blocked National Highway.
Pawan Gupta MLA Udhampur Assembly Constituency along with his political activists, Naib Tehsildar Tikri, XEn PDD, SHO Rehmbal Police Station and Chowki Officer Tikri Police Chowki reached the spot.
While addressing the people MLA Pawan Gupta expressed his grief on the tragic incident and assured the people that sufficient compensation will be given to the family of deceased.
He has also given instructions to the XEn PDD for immediate relief to the family of deceased who announced rupees one lakh immediate for the same.
He also assured that one family member of the deceased will be deputed as the need based worker of the department.
Meanwhile, District President of Provincial Power Employees Union (PPEU) Udhampur Sat Paul Sharma while criticising PDD said if in case department would have provided safety tool kit its workers, the lives of workers could be saved. Sharma further said that highhandedness of department does not end here, surprisingly, department has not paid even little dues to the victim for the last three years and he was working on the single call of the department day and night to restore power in ever odd situation just in hope to get regular job.
