JAMMU: The protest of casual/need based workers of Power Development Department (PDD) in support of their demands outside Office of Chief Engineer at Bhagwati Nagar entered 57th day without any relent on the part of government and department concerned.
These employees have earlier staged protest several times but their protest turned on a deaf year of all successive governments.
They are demanding regularisation after completion of seven years of service a condition prescribed by the government and release of pending salary.
“We have been serving in PDD for past so many years and our monthly salaries are not being releasing regularly which has put us to lot of financial hardships,” State President Akhil Sharma said.
Jammu Province President Shesh Kumar, Vice President Sham Sharma, General Secretary Sanjeev, Secretary Sawar Khan, Ashish Verma, Vishal, Ashwani Kumar and Shamsher Singh also spoke on the occasion.
