The latest surge of protests in the Valley, in the wake of the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani by the security forces, in an encounter, is shocking. As feared, Hurriyat separatists and their patrons in Pakistan, including Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, have backed the dreaded terrorist, paying him tributes.
What is disgusting is the routine, the familiar pattern of denunciation of the Pakistani Government and their Hurriyat loyalists and yesmen. Our ministers have repeatedly said that India will not tolerate such acts of terror and violence. As usual, nothing happens on the ground. Our people continue to bleed, their families suffer, but there is no counter, instant, concrete response. The Prime Minister continues with his warm gestures, enquiring about his counterpart’s health, greeting him on his birthday; but the latter does not seem to care. His litany of hate on Kashmir continues.
