Painting competition winners felicitated, Dak tickets on paintings released

JAMMU: A felicitation function was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with J and K Sainik Board at K.L Saigal Hall, here on Tuesday.
Capt. Bana Singh, PVC was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Besides Brig. Harcharan Singh, Director Rajya Sainik Board and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL were also present in the presidium.
In the programme, the Dak Tickets based on the painting of winning of On the Spot Painting Competition organised by JKAACL last year on the theme Man Behind the Weapon were presented to the children by Captain Bana Singh.
While giving his introductory remarks, Brig Harcharan said that the wars are won by the Man Behind the Weapon i.e the Indian soldiers who are highly motivated as the citizens of this country have always supported them to keep the morale of their armed forces high.
He informed that this aspect was evident during enthusiasm in Patriotic Song Competitions organised on respective venues. Painting Competition on patriotic theme was organised by JKAACL. He further said that various other programmes were also conducted by citizens of Jammu to show solidarity with the soldiers. He also informed that the programme is being held to make the children understand their duties towards the nation as these are the future leaders of this country. He also informed that on the directions of N.N Vohra, Governor, Director RSB organised printing of Prize winning painting on Dak tickets for all 12 prize winning children.
In his welcome address, Dr. Amn told the audience that the Painting Competition is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages every year.
However, in Nov., 2016, competition was given a theme of ‘Our Army-Pride of the Nation’. The imagination and artistic skills of children were found of very high standard in the said Painting Competition. He also thanked Harcharan Singh for preparing Dak ticket for the said cause.
While interacting to the students, Chief Guest gave a motivational talk to the students on the occasion by giving examples of his rich experiences in army. The soldier, decorated with highest gallantry award of PVC, was full of pride and he called upon the students to give their best to the country with sincerity and honesty.
Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri, conducted the proceedings of the programme and Bishan Das, ACO, JKAACL presented vote of thanks.
